Merry Christmas” Box Office: ₹15 Crore in First Week Starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi

Merry Christmas” has shown decent performance at the domestic box office on its seventh day. The film, which has been shot in both Hindi and Tamil.

“Merry Christmas” starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, released in theaters on January 12, recorded a box office collection of less than ₹1 crore on its seventh day, as reported by Sacnilk.com. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film’s performance in its first week suggests a modest box office outcome.

As per early estimates reported by Sacnilk.com, “Merry Christmas” earned ₹99 lakh on its seventh day in India, with the Hindi version contributing ₹93 lakh and the Tamil version ₹6 lakh. In its first week, the film garnered a total of ₹14.82 crore, with the Hindi version accounting for ₹13.38 crore, the Tamil version ₹1.39 crore, and the Telugu version ₹5 lakh.

The Hindi version of the film features Vinay Sanjay Kapoor, Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version stars Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajesh Williams, Kevin Jay Babu, and Shanmugaraja in the same roles. The box office figures indicate the film’s performance in different language versions, contributing to its overall earnings in the first week of release.

“Merry Christmas,” highlighting Vijay Sethupathi’s standout performance, described as flawless and refreshing in a mellowed avatar compared to his previous villainous role in “Jawan.” Katrina Kaif is praised as class apart, with commendable expressions, body language, and a restrained act that doesn’t overpower the character.

The review notes the simplicity in character sketches and narrative, emphasizing the absence of unnecessary flamboyance or sensuousness. Overall, the performances and narrative simplicity contribute positively to the film’s appeal, according to the review.

Katrina Kaif shared her experience of working with Vijay Sethupathi, expressing admiration for his performance. She highlighted Vijay as the best performer and discussed their initial rehearsals, during which she was intrigued by his thought process and approach to scenes. Director Sriram Raghavan provided the actors with ample space for discussion before shooting, leading to surprising and compelling results in the interactions between Vijay Sethupathi’s and Katrina Kaif’s characters, as per Katrina’s statement.

Vijay Sethupathi praised Katrina Kaif, expressing initial apprehension about working with someone who has been in the industry for a long time. However, upon meeting Katrina in Sriram Raghavan’s office, Vijay noted a healthy conversation and a positive dynamic.

He highlighted Katrina’s willingness to discuss and listen, leading to a better understanding between them on the set. Vijay mentioned gaining and learning a lot from Katrina during the filming of “Merry Christmas.”
