Bank of Baroda Initiates Forensic Investigation into Alleged Data Breach

Bank of Baroda has launched a comprehensive forensic investigation. This move follows reports indicating that approximately 1 TB of sensitive customer data was leaked in an alleged cybersecurity breach.

In an official statement, Bank of Baroda said it is working closely with relevant authorities. They will investigate the incident and is adhering to all regulations. The announcement came after social media posts claimed that the bank’s data had been leaked.

According to reports, the stolen information was allegedly uploaded to the dark web, where unauthorized users can access data anonymously. Some reports also claim that the leaked information includes sensitive customer details, such as data linked to Aadhaar. Although Bank of Baroda has not confirmed these claims.

Bank of Baroda clarified that the incident stemmed from the compromise of an employee’s email account, which allowed unauthorized access to some data. The bank stated that the breach was identified immediately, and containment measures were promptly implemented to mitigate the impact.

The bank also reassured customers that its core banking systems remain secure and have not been compromised. This clarification was issued via Bank of Baroda’s official X account in response to media reports and online discussions regarding the alleged breach.
