Akash Deep, aged 27, is poised to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the squad. He has been selected due to his notable performances, having taken 10 wickets in matches against England Lions.

This indicates his strong form and potential as a fast bowler, earning him the opportunity for a Test debut, likely in the upcoming match at Ranchi.

Bengal’s fast bowler Akash Deep, aged 27, is on the verge of making his Test debut in the upcoming fourth Test against England in Ranchi, commencing on Friday. Akash is expected to fill in for Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested for this match to manage his workload. This presents a significant opportunity for Akash to showcase his talent at the international level and contribute to the team’s success.

Bengal’s fast bowlers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar are being considered as options to partner Mohammed Siraj in the upcoming fourth Test against England. However, it is understood that the team management and selectors are leaning towards selecting Akash, given his impressive performance in recent matches between India A and England Lions. Akash demonstrated his skill by taking 10 wickets across two red-ball games for India A in Ahmedabad. With a total of 104 wickets from 30 First-Class matches at an average of 23.58, Akash has proven himself as a leading fast bowler for Bengal in red-ball cricket.

In the second Test in Vizag, Mukesh Kumar bowled 12 overs but struggled to make an impact as a wicket-taking threat, particularly on a flat track. His lone wicket came in the form of No.10 batsman Shoaib Bashir in the second innings. This performance may raise doubts about his selection for the upcoming fourth Test against England.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced in a press release that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had been released for the fourth Test against England. The decision was made to manage Bumrah’s workload, considering the duration of the series and the extensive cricket he has played recently.
