Adani’s Mundra Port Surpasses Pre-Biparjoy Levels, Handling 5,300 TEUs in July

In a statement on Thursday, the Adani Group mentioned that the handling at Mundra Port has now exceeded the pre-Cyclone Biparjoy levels, reaching approximately 4,900 TEUs.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), a subsidiary of the Adani Group, operates Mundra Port, which stands as the largest integrated transport utility in India.

In July 2023, the Adani Group-owned Mundra port in Gujarat successfully handled more than 5,300 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

According to a statement from the Adani Group on Thursday, this surpasses the pre-Cyclone Biparjoy levels, which were around 4,900 TEUs.

In July, the average number of TEUs handled by rail at Mundra port exceeded 5,300, surpassing the pre-Cyclone Biparjoy levels of around 4,900, as reported by the company.

The cyclone resulted in disruptions and forced approximately six days of unavoidable operational downtime.

Mundra, being the largest container handling port in India, managed over 6.6 million TEUs in FY23, solidifying its position as a crucial gateway to the north and central regions of the country.

Despite the cyclone-induced disruption, the port achieved a commendable year-on-year growth of 4.4 per cent in container handling during Q1 FY24.

In Q3 of FY23, a new berth named “T3” with a capacity of 0.8 million TEUs is scheduled to be commissioned.
