During the COVID-19 pandemic, Vivek Oberoi has been in the spotlight for his charity work. The Bollywood star recently donated to a charity to aid those infected with the new coronavirus. Persons from all across the world have contributed to his current campaign to support people who are suffering from COVID-19.

So, what drew him to philanthropy at such a young age in his career? Vivek admitted to an entertainment blog that his professional trajectory has no bearing on his charitable activity. He also revealed that he was going through a difficult time in his job and had fallen to despair as a result of his personal life. That’s when he called his mother, who took him to Tata Memorial Hospital as part of one of her projects.

The actor met children who were battling cancer and receiving chemotherapy, yet they were still smiling. After seeing what he saw at the hospital, Vivek understood he had no right to complain about his life. He claims it prompted him to realise that now is the moment to make the most of his celebrity status. Oberoi further shared there were people who were occupied with taking selfies while drinking coffee however there was a lot more to the hospital environment.

The actor has also been collaborating with an NGO to feed 3000 poor children suffering cancer as part of his philanthropy efforts. He has also saved over 2200 small girls from child prostitution, with over 50 of them currently studying overseas on scholarships. He began his charity at a young age, donating the all of his first payment from the film ‘Company’ to the heart operation of a young girl from a poor family.

Meanwhile, the actor is hard at work on his productions ‘Rosie: Saffron Chapter’ and ‘Iti: Can You Solve Your Own Murder.’
