A letter has been written to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra by FWICE i.e. Federation of Western India Cine Employees , demanding permission to restart filming in Mumbai beginning in the first week of June. “We have urged the state to enable us to shoot because our members are undergoing financial hardship and even production businesses are experiencing a loss,” FWICE President BN Tiwari told ETimes.
Several TV and film shoots in Goa were forced to relocate to Mumbai after the state was placed under lockdown, and are now looking at other places. “We have guaranteed the state government that we will shoot in a bio bubble,” Tiwari continued, “but work needs to begin; the industry is bleeding and we can no longer accept it.”
A request for 60,000 vaccines and a special immunisation centre for members of the media and entertainment industry, including actors,cine staff, and technicians has also been mentioned in the new letter from FWICE. FWICE has also made a request to the state government for financial assistance for the film industry’s daily wage workers. “Our industry delivers the most money to state but our daily wage labourers, however, have been overlooked. We would once again ask the state government to provide financial aid to daily wage labourers of the sectors.”,” Tiwari added.
