Abhishek Bachchan has dominated the box office with three films in the last year. It all started with his first web series, Breathe: Into The Shadows, and then Anurag Basu’s hugely popular Ludo. In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Abhishek discussed how web releases have alleviated the burden on first-day theatrical releases.

“Previously, the film’s trailer would come out six to eight weeks before its release,” Abhishek told the publication. “Now, it’s a shorter window.” Because of all the nervousness regarding the initial reactions to the film, by the time the film is released, as an actor, the enthusiasm has faded. But, I have to admit, on a scale of one to one hundred, if theatrical was a 100, films coming out on OTT platforms directly, nervousness level is 98.

When it comes to theatrical releases, the number game is still in play. Abhishek went on to say, “In the case of the web, however, this type of information is not made public. As a result, it’s a long-term release. There is no obligation to watch it on the first day of the first show; it will be visible. The pressure to follow the opening day number is the only thing that is a little less. The rest of it is largely unchanged.”

Aside from the two films, Abhishek was most recently seen in the mixed reaction film The Big Bull. He admitted that he bears a lot of responsibility for the film’s maker, Ajay Devgan. Abhishek elaborated, saying, “He has my best interests in mind.” As a family member and a friend, I have a huge responsibility to him not to violate the trust he places in me. He called two years ago for this film, and I told him it was already a yes. Meeting my director, Kookie Gulati, was merely a formality. I was extremely fortunate; the script was fantastic, and actors would gladly offer their arm and a leg for a part like this.”
