Robust winds trigger SpiceJet ladder to crash into Indigo plane at Mumbai airport

A SpiceJet stepladder crashed into the wing of an IndiGo A320 plane at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Worldwide Airport or Mumbai Airport (CSMIA) on Saturday morning. This was as a consequence of sturdy winds and torrential rain that hit the town on for about an hour on Saturday morning.

The step ladder belonging to SpiceJet bought indifferent from its parked place and rammed into the wing (a portion between the engine and the winglet).

As per a press release launched by the Mumbai Airport, the accident occurred round 7.30 am and IndiGo plane sustained injury in its wing and engine cowling.

“Unpredictable cyclonic storms engulfing India have posed an enormous problem for unattended plane parked throughout airports. On account of sturdy winds, VT-IHN of IndiGo was hit by a ladder of SpiceJet at Mumbai Airport, (inflicting) some injury to wings and engine cowling,” the MIAL spokesperson mentioned.

SpiceJet spokesperson clarified that the step ladder was properly secured and with chocks in place and that there was no prior climate warning or advisory.

The IndiGo spokesperson has mentioned that the incident is beneath investigation by related authorities of Mumbai Airport.
