According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon in 2023 is expected to be 'normal', although Northwest India may experience 'below normal' rainfall
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon rains from June to September in 2023 will be below normal in the key grain-producing areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in northwest India
However, the IMD forecasts that the monsoon rains will be 'normal' in all other regions of India, including the areas that heavily rely on rain for agricultural purposes
This announcement is the IMD's second forecast for the 2023 southwest monsoon season
