Tesla Inc. has begun hiring for leadership and senior-level positions in India. This follows months of hints and rumours about Elon Musk’s Tesla plans to get into the electric car sector, which is poised to become one of the most promising in the world.

According to Bloomberg, the California-based electric car producer is hiring for jobs such as head of sales and marketing and director of human resources. In the meanwhile, a Tesla fan club tweeted last week that the business has hired a senior legal counsel.

Tesla has made no public announcements and has not responded to the news site’s request for comment. After Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to a Tesla-focused blog by saying the company was in discussion with multiple Indian states to establish an office, showrooms, a research and development centre, and potentially a factory, speculations flew.

In addition, Prashanth Menon, who has been with the firm for four years, has been promoted to Director of India Operations, according to recent sources. He will be in charge of Tesla’s entry into India.

Before entering India, the corporation is also likely to closely follow comments from the Modi administration about incentives for EV producers under the production-linked incentive scheme.

Even as it pushes for an electric vehicle ecosystem, India is failed to extend a warm welcome. For example, a lack of EV charging infrastructure might be a significant barrier. Electric vehicle sales in the country now account for less than 1% of total vehicle sales.
