Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 16 series is set to launch on Friday, with the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max receiving attention for its enhanced battery life and upgraded camera capabilities. After five days of testing the device, it is clear that it offers notable improvements, including a dedicated camera button and faster MagSafe charging. Additionally, the screens are slightly larger than previous models.
However, the review presents some challenges, particularly regarding one of the most advertised features: Apple Intelligence, the company’s new suite of AI functionalities. Unfortunately, these features will not be available at launch and are expected to arrive later this year.
Excitement surrounds the upcoming AI enhancements, which will include updates to Siri, advanced photo editing options, and AI-generated text rewriting, set to enter beta testing in October. Other features, such as an image and emoji generator and more personalized Siri responses integrated with ChatGPT, are slated for a later release.
While some beta features were accessible for this review, others were not, complicating a full evaluation of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and making it difficult to determine if an upgrade is advisable.
Investor sentiment has been cautious, with Apple shares experiencing a dip earlier this week following analyst predictions of weaker demand for the iPhone 16 Pro models. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo attributed the concern to the absence of Apple Intelligence at launch, while Barclays pointed out that the Chinese language version of the AI features won’t be available until 2025.
One of the most noticeable changes on the device is the new camera button, which users may find convenient for quickly capturing photos. After a few days of use, many are already adapting to this feature, often reaching for their phone, tapping the button, and snapping pictures effortlessly.
