Apple Faces Challenges in Designing Thinner Phones Due to Battery and Screen Requirements.

Apple is reportedly in the process of developing iPhones and iPads with foldable designs, similar to the folding phones manufactured by Samsung and Oppo.

Despite recently releasing the Vision Pro, they are exploring the potential of foldable devices, as per a report by The Information. These foldable devices from Apple are anticipated to adopt the clamshell format akin to the Samsung Galaxy Flip series.

The report suggests that foldable Apple devices won’t be available for sale anytime soon, at least not in 2024 or 2025. Apple is reportedly encountering challenges with these new designs, particularly in ensuring their durability without breaking and maintaining a slim form factor comparable to current iPhones.

One major challenge is designing a foldable iPhone that can withstand wear and tear, especially with screens on the exterior. Additionally, Apple is grappling with the task of fitting all necessary components into a thinner device, which proves difficult due to the large batteries and screen parts required for such phones.

Apple is engaging with companies in Asia to source parts for their foldable phones, which may come in various sizes. Additionally, they are continuing their efforts to develop a folding iPad.

This iPad is expected to fold to a size similar to the current iPad Mini, with an eight-inch screen. Apple’s engineers aim to ensure that this foldable iPad doesn’t exhibit a noticeable crease where it folds and can lay flat when opened.
