Adah Sharma took to social media to share the exciting news about her film “The Kerala Story” premiering on ZEE5. She expressed her excitement with a “FINALLY!” and called it a surprise. The eagerly awaited film is set to release on February 16th exclusively on ZEE5.

“The Kerala Story” revolves around the lives of three girls: Shalini (played by Adah Sharma), Nimah (portrayed by Yogita Bihani), and Geetanjali (acted by Siddhi Idnani). Their lives take a dramatic turn when their roommate, Asifa (played by Sonia Balani), manipulates them into converting to another religion.

“The Kerala Story” is divided into two compelling parts. The first half delves into the manipulation tactics employed by their roommate, Asifa, leading the three girls into converting to another religion. In the second half, the focus shifts to Shalini’s journey as Fatima Ba, a converted member of a terrorist group, and her subsequent imprisonment in Afghanistan.

The narrative also sheds light on the alarming trend of men being brainwashed to deceive Hindu and Christian women in Kerala, enticing them into conversion and recruitment into war zones. These shocking events unfolded between 2018-19, a period marked by a surge in Kerala youths falling prey to the influence of terrorist groups.

Adah Sharma expressed her gratitude towards the courageous makers of “The Kerala Story,” Vipul Shah and Sudipto Sen, acknowledging their immense hard work in bringing the film to life. She celebrated the film’s remarkable success at the box office, making it the highest-grossing female-led film of all time, and looked forward to its release on ZEE5.

Adah emphasized the collaboration with this global platform, which would enable the film to reach a wider audience. She noted the anticipation among those who hadn’t seen it in theaters and those eager to re-watch it. Adah concluded with excitement, finally providing an answer to all those who had been asking about the film’s OTT release.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah expressed his excitement about “The Kerala Story” embarking on its OTT journey, noting the overwhelming demand from fans eager for its release. He announced the film’s premiere on ZEE5, highlighting the convenience of enjoying it from the comfort of home. Vipul emphasized the film’s rewatch value, suggesting there are numerous moments worth revisiting. He encouraged families to watch the film together, underscoring its significance as a learning experience. Vipul expressed hope that every family would embrace the opportunity to view and learn from the film’s narrative together.

Director Sudipto Sen reflected on the challenges of tackling a sensitive topic like “The Kerala Story” and translating it into a film. Despite the challenges, he embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly. He expressed his satisfaction and confidence in the film’s box office success, seeing it as validation for his work. Sudipto urged those who haven’t watched the film yet to do so on ZEE5, promising a transformational experience.

He emphasized that the film sheds light on real stories and realities, lifting the veil on important issues. Sudipto highlighted the authenticity of the film’s characters and their consequences, making it a unique cinematic experience. He concluded by referring to the film as an “unprecedented blockbuster,” according to industry experts.

“The Kerala Story” has faced controversy since the release of its trailer, particularly concerning its claim that 32,000 women went missing from Kerala. Many objected to the accuracy of this figure. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee labeled it a ‘distorted story’ and imposed a ban on the film in the state. However, the ban was lifted after the Supreme Court intervened, instructing the state government to allow the film’s screening. Despite the controversy, “The Kerala Story” proved successful at the box office and is set to premiere on February 16 on ZEE5.
