“The Kerala Story” revolves around the lives of three girls: Shalini (played by Adah Sharma), Nimah (portrayed by Yogita Bihani), and Geetanjali (acted by Siddhi Idnani). Their lives take a dramatic turn when their roommate, Asifa (played by Sonia Balani), manipulates them into converting to another religion.

“The Kerala Story” is divided into two compelling parts. The first half delves into the manipulation tactics employed by their roommate, Asifa, leading the three girls into converting to another religion. In the second half, the focus shifts to Shalini’s journey as Fatima Ba, a converted member of a terrorist group, and her subsequent imprisonment in Afghanistan.

“The Kerala Story” has faced controversy since the release of its trailer, particularly concerning its claim that 32,000 women went missing from Kerala. Many objected to the accuracy of this figure. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee labeled it a ‘distorted story’ and imposed a ban on the film in the state. However, the ban was lifted after the Supreme Court intervened, instructing the state government to allow the film’s screening. Despite the controversy, “The Kerala Story” proved successful at the box office and is set to premiere on February 16 on ZEE5.
