Milind Gunaji’s Heartwarming Devdas Shoot Anecdote: Shah Rukh Khan’s Support After His Father’s Passing.
Milind Gunaji, co-star of Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas, recounts a poignant moment during the film’s shooting. In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Milind revealed that Shah Rukh, aware of his recent loss, took special care to check on his well-being after the passing of Milind’s father just before the shoot.
In the interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Milind Gunaji shared in Hindi: “It was a challenging period for me to cope with. I remember Shah Rukh Khan, such a gentleman and a kind person. He would come and sit with me during the shoot.
He expressed his sympathy for the situation, assuring that if anything needed to be halted, they would stop. He assured me that there wouldn’t be any problem, and they could pause the shoot. Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) sir also conveyed the same sentiment.”
Milind Gunaji expressed his gratitude for the concern shown by both Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, he mentioned that he did not want to delay the shoot for personal reasons.
In the interview, Milind Gunaji discussed the shooting experience of “Dola Re Dola” featuring Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He mentioned that during a challenging long shot, which involved a handheld camera and intricate movements with other dancers, there were technical hiccups.However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali ensured that the best shot was captured, and even Milind’s closeups in the song were shot quickly to achieve the desired result.
“Devdas,” featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher, and Jaya Bhattacharya, was the third Hindi adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 1917 Bengali novel. The film received both critical and commercial acclaim upon its release, winning 11 Filmfare awards and five National awards.
