Director Siddharth Anand has responded to the criticism from Pakistani actors regarding the trailer of the movie “Fighter.” The Pakistani actors expressed disappointment with the portrayal of Pakistan in the trailer, and Siddharth Anand has now seemingly reacted to their concerns.

The movie “Fighter,” starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, is based on the backdrop of the Indian Air Force’s airstrike on Pakistan following a terror attack. After the release of the movie’s trailer, several Pakistani actors, including Hania Aamir and Adnan Siddiqui, criticized the film for its portrayal of Pakistan. Siddharth Anand, the director, has now seemingly reacted to the criticism from celebrities across the border.

Siddharth Anand responded to a tweet mentioning Hania Aamir’s recent Instagram Stories with a thinking face emoji. The tweet suggested that if Indian celebrities don’t have an issue with the anti-India content in Pakistani movies, Pakistani celebrities should not be concerned about Indian films. The specific content of Hania Aamir’s Instagram Stories or Siddharth Anand’s reaction is not provided.

Siddharth Anand responded with “Oh!!” to a tweet that mentioned the 2018 Pakistani film “Parwaaz Hai Junoon,” describing it as an “anti-Indian Air Force movie” and indicating that Hania Aamir starred in it. The context of the tweet and Siddharth Anand’s response suggests a comparison between the criticism of “Fighter” and the portrayal of the Indian Air Force in the mentioned Pakistani film.

Hania Aamir expressed disappointment with the portrayal in the “Fighter” trailer and criticized the use of cinema to perpetuate tensions between the two countries. In an Instagram Stories post on January 15, she mentioned the awareness that artists have about the power of cinema and lamented their decision to contribute to discord between the nations.

Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui expressed his disappointment with Bollywood, mentioning that it was disheartening to see Indian cinema portraying Pakistanis as villains. In a tweet, he highlighted the shift from Bollywood being celebrated for love to now crafting hate-filled narratives. Adnan Siddiqui called for the use of art to promote love and peace, emphasizing that both nations, victims of politics, deserve a better portrayal in cinema.

Pakistani actor Zara Noor Abbas criticized the trailer of the movie “Fighter” on her Instagram Stories. She expressed fatigue with what she perceived as the repetition of false narratives in cinema and urged for a more mature approach. Zara Noor Abbas questioned the choice to promote a story of hatred instead of peace, emphasizing the abundance of hatred in the world and suggesting that cinema could be a medium for promoting positive narratives.

The cast of “Fighter” includes actors such as Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Ashutosh Rana, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, among others. Directed by Siddharth Anand, known for his work in films like “War” and “Pathaan,” “Fighter” is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 25, 2024.
