Bhumi Pednekar to Star in Deglamourised Role in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Bhakshak,’ Premiering on Netflix

“Bhakshak,” a crime drama inspired by true events, is set to premiere on Netflix on February 9. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is directed by Pulkit and produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma. Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, and Sai Tamhankar in key roles, the teaser was released to give audiences a glimpse into the upcoming thriller.

“Bhakshak” follows the story of Vaishali Singh, played by Bhumi Pednekar, an investigative journalist on a relentless quest for justice. The film delves into the harsh realities of crimes against women, as Vaishali seeks to expose a heinous crime and bring it to light. The teaser showcases Bhumi Pednekar in a deglamourised role, adding a layer of authenticity to her character.

(We’re fighting for girls’ rights, do you get it?)” Director Pulkit expressed the film’s intention to bring attention to the harsh realities of society and initiate conversations that contribute to meaningful change. The film aims to engage audiences in an important dialogue surrounding societal issues.

Red Chillies Entertainment, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, is set to release its first digital project in a couple of years with “Bhakshak.” The production house has recently been involved in producing Shah Rukh Khan’s global blockbusters like Atlee’s “Jawan” and Rajkumar Hirani’s “Dunki,” both of which were theatrical releases in the previous year. “Bhakshak” marks a return to digital platforms for Red Chillies Entertainment, with its last digital release being the 2022 dark comedy “Darlings.”

In a statement, Gaurav Verma, the Producer at Red Chillies Entertainment, expressed their commitment to storytelling that not only entertains but also enlightens. He mentioned that “Bhakshak” is a testament to their dedication to narratives that provoke thought and inspire societal reflections.
