BCCI and Franchises to Jointly Decide WPL Season 2 Venue, Emphasis on Success and High Interest in Uncapped Indian Players, Says Jay Shah.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah emphasizes that there will be no differentiation in the treatment of the ICC Men’s World Cup and the ICC Women’s World Cup scheduled to be hosted by India.

Drawing a parallel with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Shah assures that both men’s and women’s tournaments will receive equal attention and support.

The commitment is to provide a seamless and high-quality experience for both the Men’s and Women’s World Cups, mirroring the approach taken with the IPL and WPL. This reaffirms the board’s dedication to promoting and developing women’s cricket on par with the men’s game.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah attributes the Indian men’s team’s limited participation in pink-ball Tests to the tendency for such matches to conclude within 2-3 days.

This observation suggests a concern about the potential brevity of pink-ball Test matches, possibly impacting the overall duration of the game compared to traditional red-ball Tests.

Shah’s comment reflects a broader sentiment within the cricketing community regarding the unique challenges and outcomes associated with day-night Test matches played with the pink ball.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah highlights the need to boost public interest in pink-ball Test matches to address the concern of shorter durations. Shah acknowledges that the initial pink-ball Test, particularly in Australia, concluded within 2-3 days, and emphasizes the importance of cultivating familiarity and enthusiasm among the audience for day-night Test cricket.

He suggests that once there is a greater acceptance and interest, more pink-ball Tests can be introduced. While acknowledging discussions with England about pink-ball Tests, Shah indicates a gradual and strategic approach to incorporating more day-night Test matches into the cricketing calendar.
