In a year that can only be described as extraordinary for the Deol family, Bobby Deol is now reveling in the blockbuster success of “Animal,” following Sunny Deol’s spectacular return in “Gadar 2” and Dharmendra’s triumph in “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.” In a recent interview, Bobby, with a mix of emotion and joy, shared insights into the careers of himself and his brother Sunny, acknowledging the rollercoaster ride they’ve experienced.
When questioned about parallels between his and Sunny’s struggles, Bobby candidly revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “He was a bigger star than me and he lost it. I was a star, but before I could get any bigger, my career went down. Yes, it is difficult but he never lost self-belief. He is a very strong man.” Bobby praised Sunny’s resilience, emphasizing that despite setbacks, his brother always believed in himself, evident in the record-breaking success of the 22-year-old film sequel, “Gadar 2.” Bobby expressed, “My brother is the best.”
Defending the success of “Animal,” despite mixed critical reviews, Bobby acknowledged the challenges. He defended the film’s portrayal of toxic masculinity, stating, “It’s impossible to make a universally accepted film. All of this exists in our society.” Despite the debates, the movie has emerged as a significant box office success and is poised to be among the top-grossing films in India this year.
Bobby emphasized the strength the Deol family draws from one another, particularly highlighting the unwavering support of their father, Dharmendra. Bobby shared, “He has seen my struggles. He knows me inside out and he knows what I am capable of. He has always been honest with me.” After 28 years in the industry, Dharmendra, expressing pride, now tells Bobby, “Kuch bhi kar sakta (You can do whatever you want).”
Yet, Bobby revealed a personal struggle during his low phase, unable to articulate his feelings to his father. “I wouldn’t be able to tell him anything, but he would see what I was going through with my life, and it would upset him.” Reflecting on those moments, Bobby acknowledged the complexity of such situations, noting, “A person has to understand it himself.”
As the Deol family celebrates their collective triumphs in the industry, Bobby Deol’s journey stands as a testament to resilience and the belief that, in the tumultuous world of Bollywood, self-confidence and familial support can truly shape destinies.
