On Thursday, when Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a century on his debut against the West Indies at Windsor Park in Dominica, his family, located 13,700 kilometers away in Thane, was occupied with the task of moving to their new five-bedroom apartment.

They were busy coordinating with the movers and packers, arranging the new house, and purchasing household items.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi’s father embarked on the Kanwar Yatra, undertaking a pilgrimage on foot from Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand, all the while keeping track of his son’s progress through phone updates and fervently praying for his success.

This marked the start of a fresh chapter for the 21-year-old, who had previously slept in tents, sold pani puris (Indian snack), climbed trees to catch glimpses of IPL games, and even faced rejection when attempting to access the nets at Azad Maidan.
