The popular series “Citadel,” starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, has been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made on Thursday by the streaming platform responsible for the show, revealing that Joe Russo will direct every episode, while David Weil will continue to serve as the showrunner.
The announcement of the renewal of the second season of “Citadel” comes almost a month after the release of the first season. The series follows Nadia Sinh (played by Priyanka Chopra), a spy agent who is presumed dead but actually alive with her memories erased. She is compelled to regain her memories in order to save the world alongside Mason Kane (played by Richard Madden).
In an official statement, Jennifer Stalke, the studio head, expressed, “Citadel has become a global phenomenon. Our goal was always to create a new franchise with original content that would attract an international audience. The immense worldwide viewership upon its debut is a testament to the incredible vision of Joe and Anthony Russo, as well as the outstanding talents of Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lesley Manville, and Stanley Tucci, along with the dedicated efforts of the creative teams, cast, and crew.
In addition to the main cast of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, “Citadel” includes notable actors such as Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Moller, Caoilinn Springall, and others in supporting roles.
Furthermore, the Indian version of the series, directed by Raj & DK, features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles.
