The grand unveiling of the trailer for the direct-to-OTT film took place in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 24.
Shahid Kapoor and Ali Abbas Zafar have collaborated for the intense dark thriller “Bloody Daddy,” which is set to premiere exclusively on JioCinema on June 9. This stylized, action-packed ride also features a talented ensemble cast, including Diana Penty, Sanjay Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Rajeev Khandelwal in pivotal roles. The trailer was revealed at a grand event in Mumbai on May 24, attended by Shahid Kapoor and director Ali Abbas Zafar.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Sunir Kheterpal, Gaurav Bose, Himanshu Kishan Mehra, and Ali Abbas Zafar, “Bloody Daddy” marks JioCinema’s first direct-to-OTT film and is considered one of Bollywood’s most significant films to embrace a digital release.
The film unfolds the story of Sumair (played by Shahid Kapoor) as he confronts Gurugram’s white-collar drug lords, treacherous friends, a ruthless crime boss, murderous narcs, and both corrupt and honest cops, all in the course of a fateful night. In the midst of a post-COVID party apocalypse, this embattled man embraces a precarious new normal and will go to any lengths to save the one relationship that truly matters to him.
Expressing his excitement about his unconventional role, Shahid Kapoor said, “I have been wanting to do an out-and-out action film, but I was waiting for the right one to come my way. When Ali approached me with this project, I knew it was the perfect fit! It’s high octane, action-packed, thrilling, and intense, created especially for a digital-first audience. Ali is a true master in this genre, and it has been incredibly enriching for me to collaborate with him on this film. We are genuinely thrilled with what we have created together and eagerly await the audience’s reaction.”
Ali Abbas Zafar shared his journey in making the film, stating, “While we see many dark crime thrillers in the West, there are very few in India that are made at the same level and intensity. ‘Bloody Daddy’ breaks all stereotypes, from Shahid’s transformation into a ‘killing machine’ to being one of the first direct-to-OTT films created on such a grand scale! It is a hard-hitting, dark action thriller that promises raw and authentic action.”
This action-packed extravaganza is a Jio Studios, AAZ Films & Offside Entertainment production in association with Vermilion World. It is written by Ali Abbas Zafar and Aditya Basu. Starting June 9, the film will be available for free streaming on Jio Cinemas.
