Actor Rohit Saraf of Ludo and The Sky Is Pink actor was in Lucknow for the movie Vikram Vedha, recently. Born in Nepal and brought up in Delhi and Mumbai, the Hichki actor being a foodie, desired to go to Lucknow since a very long time. In an interview with us, he talks about the fun of shooting in the city, about the meals trail, his upcoming tasks and more. Talking about his fun of shooting in the city and going on a meals trail in between the shoot, the Dear Zindagi actor shares, “It was an incredible experience of shooting in Lucknow. I had been meaning to visit the city for a very long time to explore everything that it had to offer. Considering the fact, that I am a huge food lover, I really wanted to try Lakhnawi kebabs, biryani and chaat that everyone raves about. So, I ensured that I eat all of them. And, I was thrilled to realise that all the hype was justified. I also went shopping at Chowk and Hazratganj for authentic Chikankari kurtas.”
From his debut movie Dear Zindagi in 2016 to Hichki, The Sky Is Pink and Ludo, quiz him about how the Bollywood adventure has been thus far and what made him select a profession in acting, Rohit says, “It has been a fantastic journey. I find myself genuinely lucky for finding a chance of working with actors like Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Farhan Akhtar – to name a few, so early in my career. Rohit adds, “These actors made me learn so much about the craft and welcomed me into this world with open arms. I don’t think I would have wanted my journey any different. While having said that, it came with its own ups and downs, but I am proud of it. My father wanted to watch me act, and before I could realise it became my dream and passion.”
Also making waves into the world of style, ask the young actor was it by preference or chance? He replies, “It was most certainly by choice. I have always been fascinated by the fashion world. It keeps changing and evolving, but what remains constant is the idea of expression. I see fashion as an extension of my personality and of my being. It helps me articulate and express myself better. I enjoy fashion and everything about it because of this very reason.”
We asked Rohit about the type of roles he would really like to do in future and he answers, “I would love to experiment and explore more as an artist. I want to challenge and push myself by trying varied ranges of characters. The idea is to become a new person with each role, each film. I don’t have a checklist, but anything that satisfies the hunger of me as an actor, I will do it.”
So, any filmmakers he wants to work with ? “I have a long list. There are so many incredible directors in our film industry, with their own unique take on cinema. I would love to work with Ayan Mukherjee, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Anurag Kashyap. To be very honest, I can go on and on with my list,” he shares.
Having also made quite a name on the net medium, he talks approximately how the virtual area modified the equation for actors. “The rise of OTT platforms has opened many avenues for artists and makers. It also equipped a creative person with a massive audience across the globe. Today, the language is no longer a barrier as long as the content and performance are relatable. The last years saw a rise in popularity of the shows from various regions of the world! And that is incredible! It is a great time to be an actor right now. Today we have an opportunity to experiment more because there is an audience for all sorts of content,” he says optimistically. Sharing about his upcoming tasks, Rohit shares, “Apart from web shows, I am also gearing up for Vikram Vedha right now. I have a few other projects in the pipeline, but it will be too soon to talk about them.”
