BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan proposed royalty for actors in the Lok Sabha today.
Ravi, who has been outspoken about the cause, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announcing actors from all of the movie industries–from North to South–deserve royalty, and that the BJP government, which has constantly thought of the movie industry and made certain that lyricists and singers get their royalties, need to assist actors get the same.
Speaking to us, Ravi stated, “This tradition is there in Hollywood and China, and we should have it here in India too. Right now, the actors only get a fee and that’s about it. This will help cases like that of actor Bharat Bhushan among others, who have to go through sad days at the end of their careers”.
As for the share of royalty, Ravi says it could be determined on the screen time of the actor in the movie.
Ravi Kishan was last seen in the Kannada language action movie Roberrt.
