Kangana Ranaut changed into all smiles as she was venerated with the Padma Shri award today. The actress was provided the distinguished award by President Ram Nath Kovind at a ceremony hosted on the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Along with Kangana, famous musician Adnan Sami was also venerated with a Padma Shri award. For the ceremony, Kangana decked up in a fabulous cream and gold saree. Ditching the necklace, Kangana wore statement earrings. While Adnani Sami wore a black sherwani for the event.
On January 26, 2020, it was announced that Kangana Ranaut, Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor will be honoured with the distinguished Padma Shri award for their contribution in the area of acting arts. While Kangana individually obtained the award, filmmaker KJo and Ekta have been missing. Padma Shri is the fourth-highest civilian award in India.
When the awards had been introduced last year, an elated Karan Johar had tweeted, “It’s not very often that I am at a loss for words, but this is one such occasion…The PadmaShri. Such an honour to receive one of the civilan awards in the country. Overwhelmed by so many emotions right now. Humbled, elated and also thankful for the opportunity to live my dream every day, to create and to entertain. I know my father would be proud and I wish he was here to share this second with me. #blessed.”
While Ekta Kapoor had shared a protracted notice of gratitude that read, “Overwhlemed and emotional. My foray into the industry started when I was just 17. I constantly heard I was too young, too raw and it was too soon to make things happen. Through the years, I have realised it is never too soon to live out your dreams and being too young is probably the best thing. Today, as I am conferred with the 4th maximum civilian honour, Padmshri, I’m humbled. I hope to continue breaking boundaries, to continue giving young talent a chance and to strive to give back to the country all the love that’s come my way. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as the news comes 2 days before my son’s first birthday. Grateful and thankful.”
