IPObound online food and restaurant search company Zomato aims to retain at least 10% of female delivery personnel over the next 6 months to promote organizational diversity.
“From today we are aiming for female delivery partners to join our car. Currently, our car has less than 0.5% female delivery partners and this needs to be changed. Yes, “Deepinder Goyal (CEO), co-founder and CEO, said in a tweet.
“People in the near future hope to see that they are really delivery partners without generalizing this community to’delivery boys’,” he added.
First, efforts in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune will begin. The job of the
Delivery Officer is not only physically exhausting, but with security and hygiene concerns as well, the women’s unit is quite far from this field. For
men, it’s easy to feel safe in public while driving around downtown all day, but it’s a big challenge for women who have limited safe and sanitary public toilet facilities throughout cities and towns.
Interestingly, to address this issue, many restaurant partners have come forward to ensure access to basic facilities, including separate toilets, for Zomato female delivery partners. “We highlight this restaurant in our application and provide support for a fair society. In addition, female partners can rate the restaurant for “ease of use and safety”. These assessments will improve the working conditions of all delivery partners,” says Goyal. In addition to this, Zomato will add essential self-defense training to the onboarding process of female delivery partners. First aid, hygiene and safety kits. Given the risks involved, the
application is also contactless even with late night delivery by default
There is also a female partner’s 24-hour support team focused on shortening emergency requests that prioritize safety. This is not the first time Zomato has worked to promote gender equality in an organization. Last year, it became one of the first few technology companies to offer 26 caution equivalent maternity leave to both male and female employees of the company.
The company submits a Draft Red Herring Prospectus and attempts to collect Rs 8,250 crore through an initial public offering (IPO).
