Sunder Pichai : JioPhone will make technology affordable & accessible

In his addressal to the Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021, Alphabet and Google CEO Sunder Pichai stated that the objective of the Google-Jio cooperation is to make technology accessible and cheap to everyone. He went on to say that the JioPhone is a step in the right direction.

“Our vision was to bring affordable access to information for Indians in their own language, to build new products and services for India’s unique needs, and empower businesses with technology,” Pichai stated while talking about the JioPhone.

The JioPhone, created by Google and Reliance Jio, is a smartphone that can run a variety of apps. Ambani stated that he is happy to announce that Google and Jio have collaborated to create a genuinely revolutionary smartphone, the JIOPHONE NEXT. It is a fully-featured platform that supports the whole array of Google and Jio applications, Ambani stated at the recent Reliance Annual General Meeting.

The RIL chairman said that the forthcoming Jio smartphone would be powered by Google’s and Jio’s Android OS and will be available on Ganesh Chaturthi, September 10.

Sunder Pichai, CEO of Google, also mentioned a 5G partnership between Google Cloud and Jio to provide faster internet to over a billion Indians and support businesses in their digital transformation. “We are proud to play a part in India’s next wave of technological innovation. Helping to connect 1.3 billion Indians to the opportunities the internet creates is meaningful to us at Google– and certainly to me personally,” he further added.
