Farhan Akhtar recalls his first interaction with Milkha Singh.

Milkha Singh, the legendary sprinter, died on Friday, June 18 as a result of complications during COVID-19. While Bollywood lamented the loss of the legendary athlete, bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, who played the part of the “flying Sikh” in the 2013 sports drama, remembered on his time with the athlete.

In a recent interview with a leading media house,  Farhan says that when the great Milkha Singh died, he felt overcoming with many different feelings at the same time, and that he believes it is a “huge loss for India” for its people, sport, and his friends and family.

Milkha Ji did, in fact, live a long life, as per the actor. Farhan further added, ‘surprisingly, he assembled a life for himself, that was loaded up with affection, loaded up with bliss and was encircled by individuals who loved him and really cared for him, that even he could adore and really care for profoundly.

During the conversation, Farhan reflects ‘I feel extremely honoured to be a part of his life’ and later on adds his greatest takeaway from him – I got this awesome chance to invest energy with him, to listen to him and understand what a beautiful individual he was. He revealed that when he met him, his competing days were over.

Farhan proudly declares that the most important lesson he has learned is his “humility”— It’s quite astounding to watch someone with a personality as massive as his. He is a huge sporting legend who is well-liked and well-respected wherever he goes. It’s wonderful to see how down to earth he was and how much of a people’s guy he was.
