Anil Sharma’s classic film “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” celebrated its 20th anniversary today. While Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel were originally cast in the starring parts, there have been rumours that Govinda and Kajol were approached earlier.
Director Anil revealed to a news source that he had never considered Govinda for the role. When he was directing Govinda’s “Maharaja,” he told him about the storey. The ‘Hero No 1′ actor was afraid, according to the filmmaker, after hearing the narrative. He was confused as to how someone could pull off a film of this magnitude. Nobody was trying to recreate Pakistan at that time. Sunny was always the director’s first pick for the movie, according to him.
He went on to say that he had approached numerous actresses at the time for the role of the female protagonist. Nothing worked out, and Ameesha Patel was cast in the role of Sakina in the end.
Meanwhile, he announced ‘Apne 2′ with the Deols on the professional front. Apart from Dharmendra, Sunny, and Bobby Deol, Karan Deol will play the protagonist in the much-anticipated sequel.
Anil Sharma had previously addressed a leading news media about his friendship with the Deol family, saying, “When you work with someone extensively over your career, you automatically establish a bond with them.” You become one with the Deols since they are such nice people. Dharam ji has been in the profession for 60 years, yet he still considers himself a simpleton and does not regard himself as a superstar. He is from the little Punjabi town of Sahnewal. Dharam ji refers to himself as the farmer of Sahnewal. He adored Dilip Kumar and fantasized about moving to Mumbai and pursuing a career as an actor. He hasn’t changed.” “Even after such a distinguished career, he is still as eager for a film as a debutant,” he continued. He still refers to the camera as his “love.” “To be a good actor, you must first be a nice person,” he once told me, and Dharam ji is just that. Karan Deol was raised with strong values as well.
