If “Saaransh,” his 1984 debut film, had a sequel, renowned actor Anupam Kher would like it to be a high-octane action film.
“If part two is made, I would work in it,” Anupam Kher shares with IANS. “I dream of producing part two as an action picture since he was a principled man who won hearts.”
“Saaransh” is often regarded as one of Kher’s most polished pieces. The actor, then 28, played a 58-year-old dad who is grieving at the sad loss of his little son in the Mahesh Bhatt film. When confronted with a difficult position, he does not abandon his morals. He believes that if a sequel to the film is made, he would be cast in it.
The 66-year-old actor has been in Bollywood for 37 years and has played over 500 roles.
“I’ve always thought of myself as a star.” It is a sign of an uneducated person to be unable to distinguish between a character’s status as a hero, a villain, or a star. An actor is a an actor. Of course, there is always a tinge of envy that someone has played such a powerful role and that I, too, should do something brilliant. That’s good competition, but ‘Saraansh’ never made me feel that way. I still believe that no one else could have played that part except me. I was watching the movie, and when I look at it now, I don’t recognise myself. “That is the film’s beauty,” he says.
