The Delhi High Court has ordered WhatsApp users to cease sharing Salman Khan’s newest film “Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai” in response to a suit brought by Zee. This follows the distributor’s claim that the film had been subjected to widespread piracy on social media platforms.

The High Court has ordered WhatsApp to block phones that are used to sell pirated copies of movies. The court has also ordered the country’s top cellular companies, Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone, to reveal the offenders’ subscriber information, with Zee threatening to take legal action against them.

“The Plaintiff has brought the instant suit for a permanent injunction, rendition of accounts, and damages for the infringement of Plaintiff’s exclusive licencing and exploitation rights in the cinematograph film ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ (in short, ‘the film’),” according to the Delhi High Court judgement. The Plaintiff is the only licensee and holder of various exploitation rights including Satelllite Rights, On Demand Rights in and to the film, including, inter alia, the exclusive right to distribute/exhibit/release the film and/or make the picture available to the public through theatrical, internet, digital, and online streaming platforms/OTT platforms, as indicated in the plaint.
