Akshay Kumar has finally responded to the mounting speculation about the release dates of his films ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Bell Bottom.’ Both films were rumoured to be aiming for an Independence Day 2021 date, which the star has refuted. Kumar said in a statement that the enthusiasm of his fans makes him feel “humbled,” but the producers of his films have made it clear that the films will be released in theatres, and that he is confident of the fact that his two films will not be released on the same day.
“I’m humbled by my fans’ for the enthusiasm and eagerness they have shown for the release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Bell Bottom,’ and want to thank them for all their love,” Akshay said in a tweet. “However, predicting that both films will be released on Independence Day is strictly speculation at this time.” Both films’ producers are finalising release dates and will make announcements when they are ready,’ he added. According to sources, the producers of ‘Sooryavanshi’ want the film to only be released in theatres.
Given that both films have a patriotic theme and have been postponed many times due to the covid-19 crisis in the past year, it was reported that both films were targeting the long holiday weekend.
Following Salman Khan’s decision to release ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ in theatres while simultaneously releasing an OTT version, reports suggested that other Bollywood stars such as Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and others would follow suit.
The film ‘Sooryavanshi,’ directed by Rohit Shetty, was supposed to be released on March 24, 2020, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis, which caused theatres across the country to close down. Kumar used Twitter early this year to share an update on the film’s release. “We promised you all a cinematic experience, and you will get it. Finally, the wait is over! Aa Rahi Hai Police, a film directed by #Sooryavanshi, will be released in theatres worldwide on April 30, 2021 “In a social media post, Kumar expressed his feelings. But due to the second Covid-19 wave, which resulted in lockdowns and curfews throughout the world, the film was not released in theatres.
After Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham,’ ‘Singham Returns,’ and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba,’ ‘Sooryavanshi’ is the fourth film in Shetty’s cop universe.
The spy thriller ‘Bell Bottom,’ which was set to be released on April 2, 2021, has been postponed as well, with rumours claiming that the filmmakers were aiming for a June 2021 date.
