Richard Branson’s Virgin Hyperloop recently completed the world’s first passenger ride on their levitating pod system.Tata Steel Europe and South Korea’s POSCO will collaborate to develop steel tubes needed for high-speed hyperloop transportation systems, the businesses said on Monday.
Tata Steel Europe, a unit of India’s Tata Steel, said during a joint statement with the world’s fifth biggest steelmaker POSCO that they might develop high-quality steel grades needed for the large vacuum tubes that allow high-speed transport using little or no energy.
“POSCO has been conducting hyperloop related research like feasibility, design and structural optimisation of varied sorts of steel tubes for quite 10 years,” said Duk-Lak Lee, head of technical research laboratories at POSCO.
The steel tubes not only got to allow a vehicle to travel during a low-pressure environment, where air is removed to chop resistance, but retain straightness over very long distances, the businesses said.
They neither gave a time-frame nor financial details for his or her hyperloop project.
In a hyperloop system, which uses maglev to permit near-silent travel, a visit between ny and Washington would take just half-hour . that might be twice as fast as a billboard jet flight and 4 times faster than a high-speed train.
