UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s nod for film city on 1,000 acre along Yamuna Expressway
The Chief Minister said that it might just not be a movie city alone, but a world-class electronic city also will come up there and a financial city is additionally proposed.

Within days of announcement about the Film City in Uttar Pradesh , Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious decide to found out a movie city and unrolled an open offer to film fraternity to return to the state.
He also announced that 1,000 acre of land has been identified in Gautam Budh Nagar by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) where the Dedicated Infotainment Zone are going to be found out with all world-class civil, public and technological facilities, a press release from the chief minister’s office stated.
“The chief minister said the proposed site is simply an hour faraway from New Delhi and really on the brink of the proposed international airport at Jewar, which goes to be the most important greenfield airport of Asia,” it stated.
The statement said it’s also on the brink of “Agra, the town of Taj Mahal , Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, and near the proposed logistic hub in Noida, the proposed dry port and freight corridor, thus providing all facilities of transport and movement”.
The YEIDA had on Sunday sent a proposal to the government after it identified the land in its Sector 21 along the expressway.
“The government today approved the proposal for fixing a movie city in Sector 21 along the Yamuna Expressway in Gautam Buddh Nagar,” YEIDA’s Officer on Special Duty Shailendra Bhatia told PTI.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister expressed confidence that the proposed Film City within the state will live up to the expectations of the industry as he met some celebrities including actor Anupam Kher and singer Udit Narayan to debate the project.
He said the state was somehow failing to satisfy the expectations of the movie industry till now, but this “shortcoming would be overcome through the proposed film city in Noida.”
“The Indian cinema gets a replacement stage, that’s the necessity of the hour,” he told the meeting, consistent with a tweet by his office.
“The government will extend full support in it. There should be Indianness in our minds. We don’t need to keep ourself faraway from it (Indianness). If we work with this mindset, the UP government will extend full support.”
Besides Kher and Udit Narayan, other personalities who attended the meeting included director-producer Satish Kaushik, singers Kailash Kher and Anup Jalota, and lyricist Manoj Muntashir.
While a number of them attended the meeting through video-conference, some joined the CM at his office. Officials from the state’s Film Bandhu department and Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council Chairperson Raju Srivastav were also present.
Kher, who joined the meeting through video-conference, expressed hope the government would adopt knowledgeable attitude towards the film city.
Inviting the industry to return and make films in Uttar Pradesh , Yogi said the state is that the central point of Indian culture and his government has improved connectivity.
A world-class airport is arising on 5,000 acres in Jewar area, he said.
“Uttar Pradesh had just two airports till 2017, and one among them wont to get flights occasionally. Now seven airports are functional and work is underway on 25. We are checking all corners. Airports are arising at Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya also,” he said, consistent with his office.
The Chief Minister said the world identified for developing the new film city is within the vicinity of Hastinapur of Raja Bharat. This film city would become the identity of India in time to return , he said.

Director-producer Kaushik said till now Mumbai was the sole destination for those meaning to add the Hindi movie industry , but now the Yogi government is opening another door through the proposed film city.
Now artistes and youth will have an alternate , he said, terming Uttar Pradesh because the only shooting-friendly state within the country.
Drawing the CM’s attention towards the shortage of enough cinema halls, Kaushik said there’s a requirement for more theatres.
“For taking the film to the village level, it’s important that more cinema halls come up. it might be of no use if films don’t reach the folk ,” he said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleged during a tweet that the Yogi Adityanath government was trying to require credit for the film city project initiated by his regime.
“The BJP government of the state is now ready with the scissors to chop the ribbon for SP’s ‘Film City’ to require credit for it. But now neither their actor’s acting is functioning nor any of his dialogues” Yadav said during a tweet in Hindi.
