The Hindi film fraternity and its members are making headlines for a spread of reasons lately , and not all of these reasons have something strictly to try to to with work or upcoming releases. After actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother were linked to the Bollywood trust within the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, tons of individuals on social media have branded almost the whole industry as dubious when it involves drugs. However, quite few artistes feel that this is often just an effort by outside forces to destroy the reputation of Bollywood and whatever ‘facts’ have begin within the Sushant death case isn’t representative of the entire show business .

Things specially took a turn when actor and BJP member Ravi Kishan on Monday stated in Lok Sabha that ‘several people’ of Bollywood are involved within the drug business and said, “Drug addiction is within the movie industry too. Several people are apprehended. The NCB has been doing excellent work. I urge the central government to require strict action against the culprits soon.”

However, actor and Member of Parliament (MP) Jaya Bachchan wasn’t impressed and on Tuesday mentioned within the hour of Rajya Sabha that a couple of people are adamant on biting the hand that feeds them. She said, “Just due to a couple of people, you can’t tarnish the entire industry… i used to be really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday (Monday) one among our members within the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke against the movie industry . Jis thaali mein khaate hain usi mein chhed karte hain (they are biting the hand that feeds them).”

“People who have made a reputation during this industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree and that i really disassociate. At a time when the financial situation is during a depressing state and employment rate at the worst levels, so as to divert the eye of individuals , we are being flogged on social media and there’s no support from the govt ,” she added.

Jaya Bachchan further urged the govt to lend a hand to the Hindi movie industry as they have their support during this crisis. She said, “I hope the govt tells these people that have made their earning, name and fame during this industry to prevent using such language. There are people within the show business who are a number of the very best taxpayers (in the country). they’re still being harassed. i feel the govt must stand by the show business because it always comes forward to assist the govt in whatever good work it takes up… If there’s a national calamity, they are available forward, they provide money and their services.”

While numerous colleagues of Jaya (Anubhav Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and others) supported her statement, her comments didn’t sit well with Kangana Ranaut, who asked the previous during a tweet whether her statements would have remained an equivalent had her son Abhishek or daughter Shweta been bullied, harassed and drugged. She tweeted, “Jaya ji would you say an equivalent thing if in my place it had been your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as an adolescent , would you say an equivalent thing if Abhishek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and located hanging one day? Show compassion for us also.”

In yet one more remark on Twitter, Kangana asked Bachchan which ‘thaali’ was she pertaining to — “the one during which a two-minute role, item numbers and a romantic scene were offered which too only after sleeping with the hero.” The actor further claimed that she was the one who taught truth meaning of feminism to Bollywood and has achieved whatever she has achieved on her own terms.

Kangana Ranaut’s discuss Jaya Bachchan’s statement attracted sharp criticism from her former co-star Swara Bhasker who asked her to be respectful towards an elder. Swara wrote that Kangana’s comments were ‘sickening’ and ‘shameful.’ Filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava also called out Kangana and tweeted that she (Kangana) isn’t being a feminist by abusing an artiste who has been a trailblazer in Bollywood.

Meanwhile, Ravi Kishan also reacted to Jaya Bachchan’s statement and said that he had expected some amount of support from his senior within the entertainment business and added that he had not blacklisted the whole industry, but had mentioned that only a couple of people are involved within the trust . On the opposite hand, BJP’s Jaya Prada supported Kishan and claimed that Jaya is politicising the difficulty .
