Snapchat took down a “Juneteenth”- themed filter and apologised to customers for the lens, which drew criticism for being insensitive, the picture messaging app’s guardian Snap mentioned on Friday.
The filter used Pan-African flag as a backdrop and prompted customers to smile, which triggered chains to look behind them after which break, CNBC reported earlier within the day
Reuters couldn’t confirm the filter because it was not accessible.
“A various group of Snap staff members have been concerned in creating the idea, however a model of the Lens that went stay for Snapchatters this morning had not been accepted,” a Snap spokesperson mentioned in an announcement, including the corporate, was investigating the “mistake.”
