Uttar Pradesh Cupboard has allowed sale of sure classes of liquor in malls throughout the state on Saturday. The state Cupboard has permitted the ‘UP Excise (Settlement of Licenses for Premium Retail Vends of International Liquor) Guidelines, 2020’, which introduces a brand new licence regime on the market of overseas liquor in malls.

The order permits premium retail vends to promote imported overseas liquor manufacturers, IMFL manufacturers of scotch or above class and all classes of brandi, gin and wine.

“…Thus far, overseas liquor is being offered in retail retailers and mannequin retailers. Earlier there was no provision on the market of overseas liquor in malls. Licenses in kind F.L-Four-C might be granted for retail sale of overseas liquor in sealed bottles in malls. These vends might be along with the present retailers,” the order said.

Premium retail vends may be opened in malls together with departmental shops, tremendous markets or hybrid hyper markets and with a minimal plinth space of 10,000 sq. toes can promote. Licences for such vends may be obtained by any eligible individual, firm, partnership agency, proprietary agency or society. These vends ought to have a minimal carpet space of 500 sq. toes.
